Begin with how the kitchen works

An island might need space for seating as well as meal preparation, while a narrow galley needs careful attention to circulation. Include overall dimensions, cabinet drawings and the locations of walls or columns. This gives the material conversation a useful foundation rather than relying on an inspiration photograph alone.
Make the island part of the plan
A waterfall end, substantial-looking edge or patterned island can change the fabrication requirements. Discuss which faces will be visible, where you want the pattern to continue and how the island is supported. Any overhang needs to be reviewed for the selected material and construction; a generic dimension is not a substitute for the product requirements and the actual cabinet design.
Confirm the sink and appliance details
Send the exact model information for sinks, cooktops and taps, including the manufacturer’s installation documentation when available. The cutout depends on the selected item and its fitting method. A last-minute change can affect the cutting plan, so these decisions should be settled before fabrication. Also identify any accessories, filtered-water taps or power outlets that require space around the worktop.
Consider joins, edges and the slab layout
Joins are a design and fabrication decision, not simply a line on a drawing. Room geometry, available slab dimensions, access and the chosen material influence the layout. Discuss where joins are proposed and how veining will be arranged before approving the cutting plan. Edges, corners and the transition to splashbacks should be included in the quote so everyone is working toward the same finish.
Prepare for installation and everyday care
Stone installation needs coordination with cabinet readiness, site access and other trades. Tell us about stairs, lifts, loading arrangements and restrictions at the property. We’ll discuss which tasks belong in the stone scope and which need your plumber, electrician or cabinetmaker. Once the material is selected, ask for its cleaning and care instructions and any applicable sealing guidance before deciding it suits your routine.
